60-205 - An Introduction to the Internet

Marking Scheme for Final Project

The following is a breakdown of the marking scheme for the final part of the project. See the marking scheme for the first part -- the index page. Please read through the help sheets on the class web pages for further information regarding the WWW project. This final part of the project is worth 25% of the overall mark for the 60-205 class. All content must be original work of the student. Plagiarism will not be tolerated.

Note: You may NOT use content from a site you previously created. The project web site must be original for this course.

Part 2 - Final Web Project: 25 Marks

The rest of the project is due at 11:59:59pm, Wednesdday, July 18th. 2012. NO EXTENSION FOR ANY REASON..... Please note that the required elements from part A must still be in your project. The marks will be assigned based on these elements:

  1. (5 marks) Required Elements:

    The project must contain:

    • (1) A properly coded table

    • (0.5) A "mailto:" link to the student's SGI account. You do not have to have your address on screen.

    • (0.5) A back link to the class list page, which uses the internal anchor to the student's name in the list.

    • (1) A properly coded form using the mailto: option with the enctype attribute properly set as demonstrated in class. You are NOT to use CGI.

    • (1) An image map with a minimum of 2 different specified areas

    • (1) An ordered or an unordered list

  2. (8 marks) Content & Aesthetics

    Marks in this section will be based on the quality of the material presented in the Web project. The project must contain a minimum of 10 pages with genuine content on them. Failure to have the minimum number of pages with proper written content and images will result in the loss of one mark for the lack of written content and the loss of one mark for the lack of an image per page. Thus, a person could lose up to a maximum of 20 marks for this section if all pages are not complete.

    Please see the tutorial page on what is content for more information about what is considered to be content for the purposes of this project.

    Marks in this section are also based on the spelling and grammar in the project.

    Marks in this section will be based on the presentation and general appearance of the Web project. The pages should be easy to read, and have some visual appeal without distracting from the information presented. The information presented in the pages should be easy to locate within the pages.

    The images and colours chosen for the pages must be appropriate for the subject matter being presented.

    Please see the rules page to ensure your page follows any class requirements or stipulations pertaining to the aesthetical design of your project.

  3. (12 marks) Construction

    Marks in this section will be based on the HTML coding of the Web Project. Information on proper HTML construction will be available both from the TAs, and the in-class lectures. You must use proper HTML referencing (as taught in class) on each of your pages, or marks will be deducted.

    Please note: in-line styles are highly recommended where possible.
