As you saw from the Nintendo page, Sony page, Sega page, and Microsoft page. A lot has changed in each generation of consoles. The media that consoles used started from ROM cartridges to CD-ROM/GD-ROM to DVD and now Blu-Ray disc (PS3 only). Not only has media changed, other things like connectivity (online gaming), wireless technology (Wii's wii remote, PS3's Sixaxis and DualShock 3 controller, Xbox360 controller).
All in all the technology of gaming has evolved throughout the years and I believe that gaming will continue to evolve, as seen from Sony's PlayStation 3, which comes equipped with Blu-ray Disc drive, hard drive, bluetooth, wi-fi, etc. There is too much to name, but, as this new and improved technology arises it means that enthusiast gamers will need deeper pockets. Other than money, it will be worth it as graphics will just become more enriched and enriched graphics just makes gaming more realistic.
