Assignment Outline |
The first assignment for the course requires that you upload an html file (named index.html) and a stylesheet file (name should end in .css) to your project directory. The index.html file should make use of the stylesheet file via the link tag, and the stylesheet file should cover all aspects of the HTML file's contents. Any and all colour/font settings in the index.html file should be done by the stylesheet file, not by the use of font tags, or other attributes (such as background= or bgcolor= attributes on a body or table tag) in the html file. These files must be in your main directory for 60-270, so that they show up when your userid is clicked on in the class list - files hidden in sub directories will not be accepted for the assignment!
Please note that you must already have your project directory in order to do your first assignment. To get your account, you must make sure that your University of Windsor webmail account is functioning, and that you can log into it at least a week before the assignment is due. You must also verify that your login to electron.cs.uwindsor.ca and your directory are both working before the administrators go home for the weekend. Late assignments due to the student not making sure their project directory worked on time will still result in a mark penalty of one (1) mark per day late.
Assignments will be collected at midnight on the due date, and copied to another location where they will be marked. Thus, you will be able to continue editing your pages and working on your projects the day after the assignment is collected.
It should be noted that an automated marking program for the first assignment is available here - it is the same program which will be used to mark the collected assignments, so it can be used by you to test your assignment for correctness before the due date.
