In each of the following short examples, use the "View Source" option in your browser to see how the code functions. In each example, the code is kept as simple as possible to illustrate only the DHTML event type in question.

• onload and onunload to run functions when people first load your page, and then again when they leave.
• onmouseover and onmouseout To make things change while the mouse is on top of them.
• onsubmit and onreset Usefull to make sure your forms are filled out right before they are sent in.
• onclick, onfocus, and onblur.
• onchange Works well with form 'select' type items.
• onkeyup, onkeydown, and onkeypressTo detect when people are using the keyboard
• onerror to help you find mistakes in your own code.

In the following examples, more complex combinations of DHTML events are used to create interactive effects.
