Dec. 12, 2011 - Final Marks (unofficial)

Please look at all your marks as I have them in my record. Should there be any discrepency or problem please either email me or come to my office today (Monday) if possible to review your exam and any issue you may have. I will be submitting the final marks to the dean's office on Wednesday. Marks are here: Dec12Post

Dec. 12, 2011 - Exam Viewing

I finished marking your final exams. You may come as of Today (Monday) 2pm - 4:30pm to view your exam in my office. I have limited availability on Tuesday and Wednesday as well. I will be posting the complete marks later today for your viewing before I submit the final grades. Any discrepency in the marks should be addressed to me by email or in person (preferably) no later than Wednesday; otherwise the marks stand.

Dec. 10, 2011 - Make-up Final Exam?

In the event you cannot write the exam due to illness or some other emergency (such as approved medical note required for proof as per senate bylaws), send me an email within one day or as soon as possible to inform me of your situation. There is only one make-up exam for all on Friday January 6, 2012 from 1pm to 4pm (room to be announced - check here or with CS office). You may only write the make-up if you could not write the final due to a valid excuse and provided you bring with you valid documentation.

Dec. 8, 2011 - Final Exam Location

The final exam will take place on Saturday December 10 starting at 7pm in CAW Student Centre - Ambassador Auditorium rows C-D.

Nov. 17, 2011 - Class today

Dear students, please be advised that due to a severe case of laringitis I will not be holding regular class today. Instead kindly do the following: 1) Come to class at 5:30; the GA will handout the evaluations (SET) which will take you about 20 minutes to complete. 2) Hand in your assignment 5 to the GA. 3) Pick up your old assignments from the GA, both 3 and 4. Please keep all your assignment hard copies and script files intact in case there is any discrepancy with the mark at the end of the term. 4) Use the remaining class time to read the lectures on "Strings". Particularly pay attention to functions like: strlen, strcpy, strcmp, gets, and puts. - Hope to get my voice back soon and see you all on Tuesday.

Nov. 1, 2011 - Assignment 4

By popular demand and for Dr. Kobti's section ONLY, I am extending the deadline for assignment 4 by one week. It is now due Thursday Nov. 10. I will be holding a lecture on pointer variables and pass by reference today (Nov. 1). Please do not miss this (or any) lecture.

October 31, 2011 - Midterm 2

Please note that midterm 2 is on Thursday Nov. 3 in Erie Hall room 1118. Please go directly to that room. Topics on the midterm include: functions, conditions (if/else/switch/case), loops (for/while).

October 18, 2011 - Midterm 1 Results

Please review your mark carefully and you are invited to come to my office during office hours to view your midterm. If you did not do well on this midterm please make sure you see me! Grades are here.

October 11, 2011 - Midterm 1

Midterm 1: You are responsible for all the topics discussed in class and the readings from chapters 1 to 5. The test will take place Thursday october 13 at 5:30pm - 6:50pm in Erie Hall Room 1118. Please go directly to that room as it is more spacious for our testing purposes. The format of the exam will be short answer type of questions including writing code and functions, tracing code, and others.
Sample types of questions:
-given a piece of code...what is its output if any.
-given a piece of code: identify and correct any logical/syntactical errors
-write a piece of code that does a certain functionality
- or write a function that does this...
- NO CALL BY REFERENCE
Class Example: write a function called Average that computes the average of three random numbers between 1 and 100 and returns it as a double.

Welcome to the website. Please note the following: Labs start the week of September 19. You must be registered in a lab section 55 or 56 if you are in lecture section 2. Make sure you can login to the cs server (cs.uwindsor.ca) with your uwinid and password before coming to the lab. The course outline is available here.
